We asked BakBlade's Product Development Manager, Shaun about the inspiration, improvements, and challenges behind the BakBlade 3.0.

What inspired the upgrades and new features in BakBlade 3.0?

Whilst the 2.0 performs very well, we felt we could enhance the product vs. competitors with additional features. To do this we had to make new tooling, so we took the opportunity to re-style the product in to a more slick and edgy aesthetic, inspired by the Stealth bomber.

How did customer feedback shape the design of BakBlade 3.0?

I've only seen a few reviews but they are all 5 star. So the shavers' performance seems really good initially.

What are the main improvements from BakBlade 2.0 to 3.0?

So as well as aesthetic changes, we added 2 more head angle positions that allows the shaver to 'wrap' around body contours and hard to reach area's like the lower back. We also added a 3 position extending handle that takes the length from 18'' to 23'' which is the longest back shaver on the market. These 2 features combine to reach any part of the users back. We also added a dual handle grip, with injected silicone on the upper handle for greater grip when wet.

Can you share any challenges you faced during the development of BakBlade 3.0?

There were lots! he extending handle being the hardest challenge. To get this to lock into position, we incorporated an stainless steel running track in the handle, with location holes. Also in the handle is a ball bearing tipped grub screw, that allows the handle to pull in and out, but locate into the  running track holes to fix the position.

What specific problem does BakBlade 3.0 aim to solve for its users?

Easy access to all area's of the back for self shaving. To reach the very bottom of the users back with the previous models was hard to apply enough pressure to get a clean shave.

What feature of BakBlade 3.0 are you most excited about, and why?

I love all the above features! It's not only an aesthetic improvement, but the combination of these additional features make this super easy for the end user with an ergonomic design solution unique to Bakblade....oh and it looks super cool!
